WE ARE CELEBRATING 10 YEARS!!!
BRAVISSIMO!

Hi Upbeat! campers, parents, and potential Upbeat! campers and parents!
WE want to once again SINCERELY thank Atlanta Violins for helping us make this camp possible. They are an amazing group of people, and not only they been instrumental in making this camp possible, they have for years provided the best violins, violas, celli and bass for sale and school rental in the Atlanta area.  When we in the schools see a student who has an Atlanta Violins instrument, we know immediately that the instrument is of the highest quality and the student will have an infinitely higher degree of success!

WE also want to sincerely thank the parents of all our Upbeat! campers – you are the ones who’ve made the joy of music possible for your child.  It is truly a lifelong gift and investment.
Our Upbeat! camp admits string players entering middle school all the way through high school.  Many advanced high school students will be admitted into the Upbeat! Academy, headed by Mr. Richard Bomba.  The Academy focuses on higher level study for the most advanced and more mature musicians and will be determined on the first day, pending the audition.

WE at Upbeat! are looking forward to the summer, school being out and Upbeat! being in!!  Our staff always gets excited when we think about seeing our Upbeat! family again and welcoming new campers! We’re busy trying to come up with even more creative ways for your orchestra student to excel on their instrument and in the orchestra, learn more about music theory and how it helps them on whatever instrument they play, compose their own piece of music for performance (North Fulton camp only), participate and perform in chamber groups, enjoy our recreation time outside (or in the gym), and of course, paint those violins!! We want to make it all fun and informative! I’m hoping that many of you will once again do “Upbeat! night at the Symphony” with us.  I will e-mail you more details later about that.

IN trying to plan for another summer’s activities, we on staff spend hours talking about what worked well and not so well.  We ALWAYS welcome your comments.  Studying music, like many other pursuits in life, lays the foundation  for so many other wonderful things, some of them recognizable years later.  So it’s important that we on staff look at the “big picture”.  I know we’ve been successful when our campers come back for 5 or 6 years – we love to watch the campers grow and mature, and their music making reaches an infinitely higher level.  I know we’ve been successful when I look at rosters for All-State, MYSO, Emory Symphony Youth Orchestra, Governor’s Honors Program, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Franklin Pond Chamber Music, and Ludwig Symphony and spot some of our campers.  I know we’ve been successful when I read in the paper or online about the honors your students receive.  The Upbeat! staff LOVES knowing that we played a very small part in the musical and otherwise, development of your child.   I know we’ve been successful when I am asked to write a recommendation for a music festival (such as Brevard or Suwanee) or even for admission into a college.  Please, if you think that we can do something more or better, DO NOT hesitate to contact me – Clare Mansell, at Clare1@bellsouth.net or 678 427 3502.

WE at Upbeat! want to ensure that our campers who wish to participate, can.  To this end, we have not raised our tuition price in three years.  I hope that returning campers will submit their $30 off coupon with their application, and remember, tuition is less BEFORE the MAY 1st EARLY BIRD deadline - ONE COUPON/APPLICATION, please.

Please notice that we have a separate application for north Fulton at Elkins Pointe Middle School, and east Cobb at Dickerson Middle School.  You must download an application here, complete it, enclose the coupon (if you have one), and check, and send to Atlanta Violins – address on application.  Of course, if you’d like to visit the absolutely wonderful Atlanta Violins shop in Roswell, you may drop off an application there.

Most sincerely,

Clare Mansell, Director, Upbeat! String Camp
